Meeting with Government Adviser Troy Wilkie
Earlier this quarter, Chairman Brian Carter, Secretary Ashley Carter and Board Member Jacquelynne Willcox attended a meeting with Troy Wilkie, adviser to Local Government Minister Shelley Hancock. The group discussed current legislation around debt collection and concerns around such issues as personal information of debtors being made available to collectors.
AFCA meeting
Just last week, Chairman Brian Carter, Secretary Ashley Carter and Board Member Jacquelynne Willcox also met with Evelyn Halls, Lead Ombudsman Banking and Finance for the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). It was a very positive and welcoming meeting. There is large support for what is being done to educate the community and industry relating to compliance issues. The AFCA also shares our concerns around dealing with financial hardship/vulnerability; and, breaches of debt collection guidelines.
